WebThe monument consists of the remains of four large limekilns, built on the beach at Solva against the north-west bank of the Gribin. Three are relatively well-preserved, but the fourth, that nearest the village, has been extensively damaged (apparently recently) by the removal of much of the masonry. Porth y Rhaw is a multivallate coastal promontory fort much reduced by coastal erosion, so much so that the interior of the fort is now reduced to a small promontory. Previous Dyfed Archaeological Trust has obtained funding from Cadw to undertake archaeological excavation at Porth y Rhaw promontory fort, near Solva, Pembrokeshire in July 2024.
