For special, I always struggle not to take 9 INT on LL builds to maximize my skill points after getting the implant because of the aforementioned loss in levels.

It makes you think carefully about perks you pick you now only have 15 instead of 25 and you have to specialise in a certain skill which I find to be much more fun and promotes replay-ability.
